The value of Cryptocurrency has increased in recent years, and also that its increasing is one of the major reasons I still don’t own any one of the Nvidia RTX 30 series graphics cards. Putting personal grievances aside, recently 0we saw the sale of $30 million worth of NVIDIA CMP series mining cards to the Hut 8 Mining Corp.
Along with the seizure of 300 stolen NVIDIA CMP 30HX cryptocurrency mining cards. And to increase the confidence and lust of miners, the folks at Bitmain have decided to show off their Antminer E9 Ethereum miner, which has a hash rate of 3 GH/s.
Coming to the machinery specs, it’s an ASIC miner aimed at Ethereum and delivers a hash rate of up to 3 GH/s in Ethereum mining. If we do maths, which everyone is weak at, then we get a power equivalent to 25 NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090s (120 MH/s per 3090) or 32 RTX 3080s (94 MH/s per 3080).
However, things go more downhill because, in terms of NVIDIA’s mining-specific cards currently available, the Antminer E9 is equivalent to 115 CMP 30HXs (26 MH/s per 30HX). The power requirement of the Antimer E9 is also high and sits at 2,556W, but it has an efficiency of 0.85 J/M.
If the 3 GH/s hash rate is true as the company claims, then it will be the most powerful cryptocurrency miner on the market. However, the ASIC miner certainly won’t be cheap and it’s rumoured that the Antminer E9 will sell for over $20,000. It even speculated that it could go up to $30,000.
