Box office numbers tell you how many people watched a film. Profit numbers tell you whether the film actually worked. And for Bhooth Bangla, the profit story is arguably even more impressive than the collections — because this is how smart Bollywood filmmaking is supposed to work.
Bhooth Bangla— A Genuine HIT
Bhooth Bangla is officially a HIT — the third of 2026 for the Hindi film industry after Border 2 and Dhurandhar 2. For Akshay Kumar personally, it is his first HIT since OMG 2 in 2023, and his first non-franchise HIT in seven years, going all the way back to Good Newwz in 2019. That context matters a lot when you’re reading these numbers.

Why Controlled Budgets Are the Real Hero
Bhooth Bangla benefits enormously from being made on controlled costs. A key problem Bollywood faces is budgets going overboard — both in production and star remuneration. This was something that specifically plagued Akshay Kumar’s post-pandemic films, where upfront talent fees were excessive. He has since corrected course — easing the financial burden on the film and moving to a backend profit-sharing model. Akshay is estimated to earn north of Rs. 50 crore from this film including his upfront fee.
This is the return on investment model that Bollywood needs to internalise — spend smart, price talent proportionately, and let the content do the work.
