“Bethlehem Kudumba Unit” Creates History: Fastest Malayalam Film Ever To Cross Rs. 100 Crore In Kerala

Some films need months to hit a milestone. This one did it in just 15 days. “Bethlehem Kudumba Unit” has officially entered the Rs. 100 crore club in Kerala, matching a record previously held by one of the year’s biggest hits — and it did so while a major new release was already competing for screens. Bethlehem Kudumba Unit: The Numbers Behind The Milestone

Starring Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju, the Malayalam film collected Rs. 4.25 crore on its second Thursday (Day 14) alone — remarkable given it was going up against Dulquer Salmaan’s newly released “I Am Game.” That pushed its 14-day total to Rs. 99.30 crore, officially crossing the Rs. 100 crore mark on Janmashtami.

Why This Is A Big Deal

Reaching Rs. 100 crore in just 15 days ties “Bethlehem Kudumba Unit” with “Vaazha 2” for the fastest entry into this club at the Kerala box office — a genuinely rare feat for a Malayalam film. What makes it more impressive is the timing: the film hit this milestone in the same week that a high-profile new release entered theaters, a scenario that usually eats into an existing film’s collections significantly.

Day-By-Day Momentum

The film built its total steadily rather than through one massive opening weekend, with daily collections staying strong through the first ten days before naturally easing off as the second week progressed. That kind of sustained, word-of-mouth-driven run tends to be a stronger long-term indicator of a film’s staying power than a front-loaded opening.

What’s Next

With favorable word of mouth still working in its favor, “Bethlehem Kudumba Unit” appears well-positioned to keep pace even as it goes head-to-head with “I Am Game” this weekend. Given its current trajectory, the film has a real shot at challenging “Vaazha 2” for the title of Kerala’s biggest grosser — a target that seemed unlikely just two weeks ago.
