BET Awards 2024
The 2024 BET Awards begin tonight with a glamorous red carpet event at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. The presentation, hosted for the third time by the remarkable Taraji P. Henson, honours outstanding contributions to Black entertainment and culture.
Before the awards are given out, the red carpet will be a spectacle of glamour and fashion. Parade will include a gallery of the most breathtaking looks as stars including Andra Day, Colman Domingo, DC Young Fly, Devale Ellis, Jay Ellis, Jessica Betts, Ms. Pat, Niecy Nash-Betts, and Saucy Santana perform.
GloRilla, Ice Spice, Latto, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Megan Thee Stallion, Muni Long, Sexyy Red, Shaboozey, Tanner Adell, Tyla, Victoria Monét, YG Marley, and even Will Smith will perform his first new solo song in five years.
Usher is slated to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award, which recognises his vast and significant musical career. Usher, who has four nominations, will perform alongside Childish Gambino, Chlöe, Coco Jones, Keke Palmer, Marsha Ambrosius, and Summer Walker.
This is Will Smith’s first big awards show appearance since his controversial performance at the 2022 Oscars, which resulted in a 10-year ban from Academy events.
Drake leads this year’s nominations with seven, followed by Nicki Minaj with six. Other notable contenders are J. Cole, Sexyy Red, SZA, Monét, and Beyoncé, all of whom have five nominations. 21 Savage, Doja Cat, Megan Thee Stallion, Tyla, and Usher follow closely behind with four nominations apiece.

Valerie Pettiford, Bobby Jones, Young Dro, Jermaine Dupree, ScarLip, Vedo, Duane Martin, and Ashley Marie Jones were some of the first to walk the red carpet. Each of their clothes exemplified elegance and grandeur.
Colours and sophistication coexisted at the Peacock Theatre entrance, emphasising the originality and refinement of the best representatives of Black American culture.
