Best Processor Ranking 2024: Which is the best to buy? — Best processor ranking

The dust has fallen on the latest generations from AMD and Intel, and it was a lot closer race than we expected. However, Intel came out on top with the Core i9-13900K. It doesn’t have a clear advantage in every task, but it’s about $100 less expensive than AMD’s flagship CPU.

The Core i9-13900K, like the Core i9-12900K from the previous generation, mixes performance (P) cores and efficiency (E) cores. However, core counts are increased this time. You get eight P-cores based on the new Raptor Cove microarchitecture, as well as 16 E-cores based on the previous generation’s Gracemont architecture.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X

This generation, AMD lost the flagship contest by a razor-thin margin. It is slightly slower than the Core i9-13900K and costs roughly $100 extra. The raw power of the Ryzen 9 7950X, on the other hand, virtually matches the Core i9-13900K in most tests.

The processor lives up to its claims, with a 31% increase in single-core performance and a 36% increase in multi-core performance over the previous generation. When compared to the Core i9-13900K, it takes a little step back in some tasks, although only by a hair’s breadth. In some games, such as Far Cry 6, the Ryzen 9 7950X is really quicker.

Aside from the chip, AMD’s new AM5 platform is introduced with the Ryzen 9 7950X. It used to be much more expensive, but new motherboards and plummeting DDR5 pricing have made the upgrading more feasible. Furthermore, AMD says it will support AM5 until at least 2025. That implies future Ryzen generations should be simple to upgrade to without the need for a new motherboard.

Intel Core i5-14600K

On sheer value, the Core i5-14600K is difficult to surpass. If you already have the Intel Core i5-13600K processor, it’s recommended to continue with it. It previously occupied this position. However, if you’re replacing an older CPU, the Core i5-14600K is the one to get.

It has the same number of cores as its last-generation equivalent but with more optimizations and a modest increase in clock speed. The outcome is significantly improved gaming performance and marginally improved productivity performance. Additionally, Intel didn’t increase the cost of its Core i5 chip, so you may get better performance for about the same cost.

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D

With the introduction of the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, the 5800X3D has finally found a fitting successor. This CPU is the fastest gaming CPU available, easily outperforming Intel’s Core i9-13900K. It also competes with the more expensive Ryzen 9 7950X3D in pure gaming scenarios.

The Ryzen 7 7800X3D takes advantage of AMD’s 3D V-Cache technology, and it once again demonstrates the power of stacking vast quantities of L3 cache on top of the CPU. It has a total cache of 104MB, which is a significant increase over the Ryzen 7 7700X’s 40MB.

AMD Ryzen 5 5600X

Although AMD’s latest processors provide the finest performance, they are very pricey when DDR5 memory and a new motherboard are considered. The Ryzen 5 5600X is not only less expensive on the platform, but it is also around half the price of the next-generation alternative.

The Ryzen 5 5600X is now priced at about $180, which is simply ridiculous given the performance it provides. The newest chip outperforms the older one in gaming, but only by a small margin. And, like the Ryzen 5 5600X, the Ryzen 5 7600X lacks a core advantage, packing just six cores.

AMD Ryzen 7 5700G

It is possible to play games without a GPU, but it is not a pleasant experience. The Ryzen 7 5700G is an outlier. When it comes to integrated graphics on a CPU, it’s a clear winner, allowing you to hit playable frame rates in popular titles at 1080p.

It’s likely to stay that way. Although the Ryzen 7000 has integrated RDNA 2 graphics, it is not powerful enough for gaming. The Ryzen 7 5700G is an APU that has a full graphics engine.
