Bengaluru FC began their new ISL campaign in victorious fashion, by defeating last year’s semi finalists NorthEast United 4-2. The game had four different goalscorers, and was entertaining from start to finish for the spectators.
The scoring opened in the 14th minute with Cleiton Silva rounding the ball past Subhashish Roy Chowdhury and slotting it into the back of the net. Their lead would not last long, though, with Deshorn Brown would score against his former club three minutes later.
Mashoor Shereef would then have an utter disaster at the back. The NorthEast United defender blasted the ball into the top corner of his own net instead of clearing it after a rebound.
Mathias Coureur would then equalise for NorthEast United at the right end, with Suhair setting up the goal. Jayesh Rane would then take the lead again right before half time.
On the other side of the break, Prince Ibarra would score the only goal of the second period. The player made a remarkable move into the box and coolly slotted the ball past the keeper to kill off the game with eight minutes remaining on the clock.
The pace of the match dropped after five goals were scored in the first half. And the tactical battle was won by BFC, and they were rewarded with three points in the game. Bengaluru are looking relentless in their attacking and could be relying on it a lot in the matches ahead.
