The BCCI has recently announced an equal pay policy for the contracted players of the national women’s cricket team. They will now have the opportunity to get equal pay as the male cricketers. The match fee for the male and female cricketers will be the same.
The New Zealand Cricket Board (NZC) applied this rule for the first time as they also decided to pay female cricketers equally to male cricketers. The annual contract amount is not having any edits but the match fee for the male and female cricketers will be equal in every format of cricket.
BCCI announced an equal match fee for all contracted female and male cricketers
All the contracted players will be getting INR 15 lakhs for a test match, INR Six lakhs for the One-Day Internationals, and INR THree Lakhs for a T20 International game.
Jay Shah tweeted about equal pay of male and female cricketers. While making the announcement, he said,
I’m pleased to announce@BCCI’s first step towards tackling discrimination. We are implementing pay equity policy for our contracted@BCCIWomen cricketers. The match fee for both Men and Women Cricketers will be the same as we move into a new era of gender equality in Cricket.
“The women cricketers will be paid the same match fee as their male counterparts. Test (INR 15 lakhs), ODI (INR 6 lakhs), T20I (INR 3 lakhs). Pay equity was my commitment to our women cricketers and I thank the Apex Council for their support,”– Jay Shah added
The men in blue are in Australia playing in the T20 World Cup 2022. The women’s team lifted the Asia Cup 2022 title at the start of October by beating Sri Lanka in the finals. The women in blue lost just a game before the finals against Pakistan. The Indian women’s team lifted the trophy for the seventh time.
