Unfortunately for fans of the games, on April 28th, EA and DICE will remove three of their most popular titles: Battlefield 1943, Battlefield: Bad Company and Battlefield: Bad Company 2. All four of these games received mostly positive reviews upon their initial release, with many Battlefield fans citing Battlefield: Bad Company 2 as one of the best games in the series.

When it was first released, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 received positive reviews from critics, who praised it for its action-packed campaign and endlessly replayable online multiplayer. Even though the game was released 15 years ago, many people still have fond memories of it. It will no longer be available for purchase on digital storefronts, along with the critically acclaimed games Battlefield 1943, and Battlefield: Bad Company.

According to EA and DICE, this is being done in “preparation” for the games’ online services to be retired on December 8, 2023. Because Battlefield: Bad Company, and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 all support offline play, it’s unclear why they’ve been removed from digital storefronts. Regardless, anyone who wants to own these games digitally has about a month to do so.

The launch of Battlefield 2042 was a disaster, and while things have improved somewhat, it’s safe to say that many fans are eager to see DICE move on to other projects. It remains to be seen what the Battlefield franchise will do next, but hopefully a Bad Company equivalent will be released to compensate for these games being delisted and shut down.
