SC East Bengal are currently backed by Shree Cements but their visions don’t seem to be aligned as for the last two years there has been doubts in their ISL participation till the last moment. After entering the ISL in the last stage, the team has finished at the bottom places due to a lack of planning and having not enough time to form a good team. This has been the case for the last two years for the famous Red and Gold brigade.

East Bengal are one of the most historic Indian clubs who have been founded over 100 years ago. So seeing a club of such stature languishing in the bottom half of the ISL table is not a happy sight for Indian football lovers.

It seems East Bengal have started planning for life without Shree Cements as it seems obvious they will be out after this ISL season is over. So East Bengal have already started initial talks with Bangladeshi conglomerate Basundhara Group.

Bangladeshi conglomerate Basundhara Group initiates talk with East Bengal to come on board as an investor

Bangladeshi conglomerate Bashundhara group managing director Mr Sobhan Anvir along with other key officials came to Kolkata to visit East Bengal on Thursday. According to a report by The Bridge, Bashundhara Group have initiated talks with East Bengal to invest for the upcoming footballing season.

Bashundhara Group is the sponsor of three major football clubs in Bangladesh which includes Bashundhara Kings. They now wish to expand their footballing presence in India as well.

Bangladesh were previously known as East Bengal, the same name as the club. The “Bangals” (commonly referred to those Indians who have their root previously in Bangladesh when India and Bangladesh were not divided) are the primary supporters of East Bengal. So there’s an emotional connection as well for Bashundhara Group to invest in East Bengal.

East Bengal hope to get a permanent solution to their investing part soon and focus on the thing they do best, play football.
