Barcelona vs Tarragona, a glimpse of the future!

Barca dispatched Gimnastic Tarragona of the Segunda B division in a 3-1 victory at the Estadi Johan Cruyff on Saturday evening. The victory featured Antoine Griezmann, Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele on the scoresheet. The three of whom have struggled to make a consistent impact for their new team.

However, the highlight of the evening wasn’t the redemption of the 100 million plus club. No. It was the performance of the young players that really came into the limelight. Here are all the youngsters that made a mark in Saturday’s friendly victory.

Carles Alena

Setien wants Carles Alena for Barca's next season

After completing his loan spell at Real Betis, Alena made his return to his boyhood club on Saturday. Operating in the heart of the midfield, he did very well to dictate the pace and the flow of the game. He must give it all on the pitch if he hopes to break into the first team this season.

Riqui Puig

Puig is one of the most highly-rated youngsters coming out of Camp Nou. His agility and activeness on the pitch were on display all over the second half, after coming off the bench. Also one of the quickest on the pitch, Puig has a very bright future ahead of him. All he needs to do is learn from his mistakes and be consistent with his good performances.

Pedri

Trincao & Pedri are believed untouchables for transfers by Barcelona board

After joining Barcelona from Las Palmas, Pedri made his debut for his new club in the friendly match. The 17-year-old created great plays and was one of the most active attackers in their win. He stands out for his extremely mature mentality for a 17-year-old player and will be one to watch this season.

Francisco Trincao

The 20-year-old Portuguese winger was the best player on the pitch in the second half. He absolutely befuddled defenders with his impressive dribbling skills, showing fans exactly why the club paid €31 million to seal his move from Braga. The winger was unstoppable, even with the number of fouls that the opposition defenders had to make to stop him.
