Barcelona are expecting a cash injection worth up to €800 million this season, by leveraging some key financial figures. This would allow them to register new signings and allow them to recover their financial situation in the process.

The club announced their decision in a press conference, which was led by the president – Joan Laporta. “We have passed from being in a terminal condition and moved into the intensive care unit,” he said last week.

Barcelona have sold minority stakes in BLM and TV rights

🚨 Barcelona would earn €700M-€800M from the economic levers. Therefore, Frenkie De Jong's departure is no longer necessary for the club. However, Xavi likes Bernardo Silva more and would prefer his arrival.

The club plan to expand their merchandising capacity, and have put up 49.9% of Barça Licensing & Merchandising up for auction as a result. Laporta believes that the sale of their merchandising rights would bring in a sum close to €300 million. They are still holding their majority stakes of the merchandising rights, and will include the option to buy back these rights whenever they have recovered financially.

In addition to the BLM, Barcelona are also selling their TV rights to raise funds to cope with their situation. They are expecting to sell no more than 25% of their total rights for a maximum of 25 yess. This would bring in the remainder of the projected amount for the club, and allow them to end the season in the positive on the books. And more importantly, it would free them from the La Liga Financial Fair Play restrictions.

This doesn’t mean that the club will spend a lot of money in the transfer market. But they will have a significant advantage for the coming years, and will be able to buy these rights back once the situation improves.
