Barcelona starlet Carles Alena could be on his way out of the club on loan once again. The La Masia graduate was sent out on loan to Real Betis last January, where he enjoyed a fruitful spell and a fair amount of game time as well before returning to Camp Nou at the end of the season.
With the arrival of Ronald Koeman at Barcelona, Alena has fallen behind in the pecking order for minutes with the experienced names like Sergio Busquets, Miralem Pjanic and Frenkie De Jong getting the nod ahead of the Spaniard.
Rumours surfacing recently have been linking the Barcelona midfielder to another loan move, this time to Getafe. The latest reports indicate that the deal could go through in the next few hours itself, and the player could find himself in the matchday squad to face Huesca this weekend.
Being 22 years old, regular minutes on the pitch are extremely important for the youngster to develop as a player. He has only made 5 appearances for Barcelona this season and has spent a total of 170 minutes on the pitch, which is close to nothing given his age and the number of games being played this season.
The loan deal, much like his move to Real Betis, will be till the end of the season. Ronald Koeman has made it clear to Alena that he will not get a lot of minutes and that going out on loan would be the most favourable solution.
Riqui Puig was one of the other young Barcelona midfielders whom Koeman wanted to send out on loan, but the youngster refused to leave, claiming to want to fight for minutes at the club. That has not gone according to plan, and following in the footsteps of his fellow teammate would be the wise thing to do.
