Barcelona announces their pre-season squad for their USA tour. And, it features some notable absentees, which suggests that Xavi does not plan to include these players in his squad for the coming season.

Martin Braithwaite, Oscar Mingueza, Samuel Umtiti, Riqui Puig, and Neto have all been left out of the squad. And according to Fabrizio Romano, the club wants to offload these players as soon as possible since they have been deemed surplus to requirements.

Despite having an agreement with Manchester United over a transfer fee, Xavi has included Frenkie de Jong in his squad. The player is refusing to move to Old Trafford this summer as he has owed wages around €20 million by the Spanish giants. Moreover, he is also not intrigued by the prospect of playing in the Europa League with them.

Barcelona is under no real pressure to sell de Jong, according to president Joan Laporta. However, they will also not be able to negotiate a lower salary with the Dutchman either.

Rennes were in talks with Barcelona over Samuel Umtiti, but have left negotiations in favor of a better option. They are also looking for any clubs interested in Martin Braithwaite, Oscar Mingueza, Riqui Puig and Neto too.

In order to register their new players, Barca will need to offload their current players. They have a very bloated squad and need to find a way to trim their wage bill in order for the new players to be integrated.
