After having a rather good season Valencia captain and the Spanish left-back Jose Gaya is now FC Barcelona’s latest transfer target.
After rumours suggesting that the experienced left-back Jordi Alba might be on his way out of Camp Nou post some interest from Serie A champion Inter Milan. The 26-year-old Spaniard just might turn out to be 32-year old Jordi Alba’s ideal replacement. Moreover with Barca’s current financial situation, Jose Gaya might be one of the most reasonable options for Los Cules.
Also, the fact that Jordi Alba’s current wage is nearly three times that of Jose Gaya’s weekly wages, might prove beneficial to Barca in order to cut some corners around the wage.
Further on, with the backup left-back Junior Firpo receiving some good offers from the Premier League teams such as West Ham and Leeds United while the young left-back is apparently pushing for a move to Italy in order to join AC Milan.
However, FC Barcelona might face some tough competition from Manchester City as the Citizens head coach and former FC Barcelona head coach Pep Guardiola is also very keen to sign Gaya this season and is apparently quite impressed by the player.
Although Gaya’s arrival might not be much pocket friendly as the reported transfer move might cost FC Barcelona up to £45 million not to mention Gaya will most probably be expecting a significant increase if he moves forward with the Los Cules transfer move.
The Spanish left-back has made 33 La Liga appearances and has scored 1 goal and provided 7 assists while maintaining 8 clean sheets in the process.
