Game-Changing Cheats and Exploits

The Millionaire Method

This duplication exploit works in two-player mode and creates unlimited wealth in minutes:

Get to the merchant with two players
Have Player 2 buy expensive lightweight items (like the 3,000 gold dagger)
Save your game, then sell all Player 2’s items
Don’t save—import Player 2 again with all items intact
Repeat until you’re swimming in gold!

Pro Tip: Using +5 Grand/Imperial rings or amulets worth 150,000 gold each accelerates this dramatically.

Easy Item Duplication

Need multiple copies of legendary weapons? Here’s how:

Load your character with items to duplicate
Start a second player and drop the items
Have Player 2 pick them up and export that character
Import Player 2 again—items duplicated instantly!

Experience Buying Exploit

Characters with unique quest NPCs that “sell” experience can gain maximum XP through this method:

Save before talking to your character’s experience vendor
Buy all experience amounts (2K, 4K, 8K, 16K)
Export your character
Reload the save and import your powered-up character
Repeat for unlimited leveling!

Unlimited Gold Through Charisma

Get your charisma to 26 (plus 40% buy/sell bonus) using amethyst-containing trinkets and boots:

At 26 charisma, buy expensive lightweight items
Reduce charisma to 24 (plus 35% bonus)
Sell items for more than you paid—infinite profit!

Unlockable Characters and Modes

Unlockable	Requirement
Drizzt Do’Urden	Beat the game on any difficulty
Artemis Entreri	Complete Extreme Mode
Extreme Mode	Finish the game once

Want to start Extreme Mode with your existing gear? Start a new extreme game, add a Player 2, remove Player 1, then import your powered character into the Player 2 slot!

Advanced Tips for Maximum Power

Level Up Faster: Equip fine or better amulets, two fine rings, and fine boots maxed with pearls and rune stones for 50% more experience. You’ll level up on nearly every mission!

Multiple Summons (Ysuran): Summon with Shadow Conjure or Animate Dead, save your game, reload, and summon again for multiple pets.

Skip Bosses: When Lyran appears in his Private Study as a Lich, run out with him following, Recall to Baldur’s Gate, then Recall back—he disappears!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do these cheats disable achievements or trophies?

A: The original releases didn’t have achievement systems, so classic versions have no restrictions. However, recent ports to modern platforms (PC, Switch) may track achievements differently. The cheat menu and duplication exploits generally don’t disable achievements, but always save your game before experimenting to avoid potential issues.

Q: Can I use cheats in single-player mode?

A: Yes! The instant power cheat and cheat menu work perfectly in single-player. However, duplication exploits require two-player mode. The workaround is simple: use the cheat codes to boost your single character, or temporarily enable two-player mode just for duplication, then continue solo with your duplicated items and enhanced character.
