Our Universe — Drama at a Glance

What’s the Story?

Our Universe follows 28-year-olds Seon Tae-hyung and Woo Hyun-jin, whose lives are upended when they are forced to raise their infant nephew, Woo-ju, following the sudden death of the child’s parents — their own older siblings. Despite being in-laws with no real closeness, they move in together, and what follows is a beautiful, bickering, baby-filled journey toward connection and love.

The drama marks a milestone for tvN — it was selected to restart the network’s Wednesday–Thursday programming, which had been suspended since May 2023.

Meet Bae In Hyuk’s Character: Seon Tae-hyung

This is the role that’s turning heads. Bae In Hyuk stars as Sun Tae Hyung, a blunt and seemingly cold photographer’s assistant who hides a surprisingly soft heart. Although tagged as an “assistant,” he’s a highly capable talent — skilled enough to make the lead photographer jealous.

Sharing why he chose Our Universe, Bae In Hyuk said he was impressed by how realistically it portrayed a guardian who isn’t good with kids, and added that Woo-ju’s cuteness is one of the drama’s biggest charms. He also opened up about filming: “While filming, I got to experience a part of childcare, and it made me respect parents even more. Being a parent is truly amazing, and it also made me realize what responsibility means.”

The First Meeting — Sparks Fly at a Secondhand Market

Before the baby chaos begins, there’s that first scene. The two leads meet as seller and buyer at a secondhand marketplace, where they are caught in a tense exchange. As Woo Hyun Jin carefully inspects the item for sale, Sun Tae Hyung stands behind her, fixing her with an intense glare. As the process drags on, his expression grows cold, clearly showing his displeasure with her attitude.

The production team promised “a series of incidents and mishaps” that bring “cheerful laughs and heart-fluttering excitement” from the very first episode. Safe to say — they delivered.

Why Fans Are Hooked

Many K-dramas explore cohabitation or forced proximity, but Our Universe stands out by centering genuine co-parenting challenges rather than contrived obstacles — including a realistic portrayal of grief and sudden responsibility, where the leads aren’t instantly perfect parents and make mistakes while learning together.

Episode 4 hit a nationwide rating of 1.5% per Nielsen Korea, signaling strong audience momentum. On IMDb, the show holds a solid 8.2/10, while Soompi has been covering its weekly updates enthusiastically.
