Worried about a three-hour marathon? Good news: Avengers: Doomsday looks set to be shorter than its predecessor. According to The Direct, directors Joe and Anthony Russo have confirmed the film currently runs about two and a half hours, ahead of its December 18 release.

What the Russos Said
In an interview with GamesRadar, the brothers described the film as a focused, fast-moving story built around one central idea, with everything orbiting it. Anthony called figuring out how all those storylines collide the biggest creative challenge for him and Joe. That’s no small task, given that Doomsday is expected to feature more characters and big moments than any superhero film before it.
Where It Ranks in the MCU
At about 150 minutes, Doomsday would be:
- About 30 minutes shorter than Endgame, the MCU’s longest film
- The second-longest Avengers movie, just ahead of Infinity War
- The fourth-longest MCU film overall, behind Eternals (2h 37m) and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2h 41m)
Some insider reports earlier suggested a runtime closer to three hours, but the Russos’ own comments, which match what they said in 2025, point to the shorter figure. Keep in mind this is the current cut, so it could still change.
Is Marvel Repeating the Infinity War Strategy?
It looks that way. Infinity War ran 2h 29m before Endgame added another half hour. The Russos have hinted at the same pattern: about 2.5 hours for Doomsday and a three-hour finale for Secret Wars in 2027. As a culmination of over 30 years of Marvel films, Secret Wars could easily challenge Endgame for the longest MCU movie ever.
