The 21/22 ISL final has been set up, and it will see Hyderabad FC take on Kerala Blasters to determine the winner of the trophy this season. Here are the three talking points from the second leg of the semi-final between ATK Mohun Bagan and Hyderabad FC.
Won the battle, lost the war
Although Roy Krishna was able to get a late goal in the second leg, and win the match, it wasn’t enough to overturn the aggregate scoreline. Hyderabad FC were still one goal to the good, and progressed with a 3-2 scoreline in the end.
Despite having a number of chances in front of goal, the Mariners were not able to find the final finish to put the ball past the keeper. Laxmikant Kattimani also did very well to keep the Green and Maroon forwards away from the goal.
Tough season for ATK Mohun Bagan
ATK Mohun Bagan finished as runners-up in the table for the second consecutive season. And this time, they were unable to reach the final of the competition as well. Despite the great revival in form shown by Juan Ferrando’s arrival, they were not able to carry it out to the semi-final stages, and ended up suffering a tough defeat to end their hopes of winning the title this season.
Hyderabad FC create history
The Nizams have progressed to the finals of the ISL for the first time in their history. They will be looking to create even more of it when they take on Kerala Blasters in the last game of the season. In the second leg, Manolo Marquez’s men were not good enough to control the game.
So, Hyderabad FC will have to return to their best performances if they expect to end the season with the title in their hands.
