Serie A side Atalanta BC are on the verge of securing the services of Southampton winger Kamaldeen Sulemana. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, a fresh offer nearing €17 million has been submitted for the Ghanaian international, signaling serious intent from the Bergamo outfit to finalize the deal ahead of the 2025-26 season.

New Bid Submitted as Atalanta Step Up Pursuit

After an initial offer in the region of €14 million was turned down, Atalanta have returned to the negotiating table with an improved proposal believed to be close to €17 million. The revised bid is aimed at persuading Southampton to part with one of their few bright spots in what was an otherwise forgettable campaign.

The Saints were relegated after a disastrous Premier League season, finishing bottom with just 12 points and managing only two victories across 38 fixtures. However, Kamaldeen Sulemana stood out amidst the chaos, showcasing his explosive pace and flair even as the club struggled for form.

Juric Reunion Looms Large

If the deal is completed, Sulemana will reunite with Ivan Juric at Atalanta. The pair previously worked together at Southampton, where Juric provided the winger with his most consistent spell of appearances during the 2024-25 season.

Under Juric’s brief stewardship, Sulemana delivered his best performance of the campaign during a 3-1 defeat against Manchester United at Old Trafford. This rapport could be a significant factor behind Atalanta’s aggressive pursuit, especially as the club embarks on a new chapter following Gian Piero Gasperini’s exit and Juric’s appointment as head coach.

Contract Terms and Role in Atalanta’s Plans

The proposed agreement would see Sulemana sign a four-year contract, with an additional year as a club option. His arrival is expected to bolster Atalanta’s wide attacking options and bring dynamism to their forward line.

Atalanta have built a reputation for identifying raw talent and helping it flourish—Dejan Kulusevski, Rasmus Højlund, and Amad Diallo are just a few examples. Sulemana, still only 23, fits that mold perfectly.

Bright Spark in Southampton’s Dismal Season

Despite Southampton’s relegation, Sulemana managed to contribute meaningfully. In all competitions last season, he made 30 appearances, scoring twice and assisting three times. In the league, his numbers were modest—one goal and one assist in 26 games—but he showed promise in cup competitions, registering two goal contributions in the FA Cup and one assist in the Carabao Cup.

His ability to remain a consistent threat even when the team underperformed has made him a standout figure and an attractive target for clubs like Atalanta looking to add depth and pace on the wings.

With talks progressing positively and Atalanta determined to secure the Ghanaian winger’s services, the move appears to be nearing its final stages. If completed, this transfer could mark a significant step in Sulemana’s career revival under a manager who clearly believes in his potential.
