ASUS has teased the ROG Strix Scar 16 gaming laptop, which will use Intel’s new 14th Gen Core “Raptor Lake Refresh” CPU and NVIDIA’s flagship GeForce RTX 4090 GPU. The flagship Core i9-14900HX processor powers the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 16 gaming laptop, but we don’t know what boost CPU clock rates to expect from the Raptor Lake Refresh mobile CPU.
In comparison, the previous-generation Core i9-13900HX processor has 24 cores and 32 threads, with 8 P-Cores and 16 E-Cores and 36MB of L3 cache. The Core i9-13900HX can boost to 5.4GHz, while the Core i9-13980HX can boost to 5.6GHz via Thermal Velocity Boost.
ASUS ROG Strix Scar 16 with Core i9-14900HX and GeForce RTX 4090 combo will be epic
On the GPU front, we get NVIDIA’s flagship GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU, 64GB of DDR5-5600 RAM, and what should be a stunning 1600p resolution (1600p is a significant step up from 1440p) @ 240Hz. The GPU will have no trouble handling the resolution and high refresh rate.
The latest information on the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 16 gaming laptop comes from the PugetBench website, so we may expect an official announcement in the coming weeks, with a likely Christmas 2023 release date. Asus isn’t the only company suspected to be employing Intel’s upcoming Raptor Lake Refresh mobile CPUs.
According to Videocardz, Lenovo is also planning to release an updated series of Legion 9 laptops with the i9-14900HX. A couple of lower-end Legion 7 and Legion 5 gaming laptops with Core i7-14700HX and i7-14650HX Raptor Lake Refresh CPUs were also seen.
