ASUS ROG Phone 5 Ultimate vs ZTE Nubia Red Magic 6 Pro: Which one is a better Gaming Smartphone?

In the last week, we have seen many new smartphones being launched. Especially, we have seen gaming smartphones taking the central stage and attracting everyone. Two such handsets are ASUS ROG Phone 5 Ultimate and Nubia Red Magic 6 Pro. Globally it is a fight between the two best Gaming Smartphones launched this year now. After the launches, we witnessed something more than just the battle of powerful flagship chipsets. The companies are now focusing on the user experience from both hardware and software perspectives. So, let’s find which is the better gaming phone for the users.

Display

ASUS ROG Phone 5 Ultimate is a limited edition device that flaunts a 6.78-inch AMOLED type screen and comes with a high refresh rate of 144Hz. Nubia’s Red Magic 6 Pro sports a 6.8-inch Full-HD+ AMOLED display with an even higher refresh rate of 165 Hz. With this, Red Magic 6 became the first smartphone in the world to come with a refresh rate of as high as 165 Hz.

Processor

List of Smartphones powered by Snapdragon 870 chipset

Both the smartphones are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 SoC which is the strongest non-Apple chipset. Nothing to compare here. ASUS’s smartphone has a RAM of 18 GB and internal storage of 512 GB. Nubia Red Magic Pro comes with multiple variants of storage but its transparent edition is coupled with the same magnificent RAM of 18 GB and internal storage of 512 GB.

Camera

ASUS ROG Phone 5 features a triple camera setup at the back-side with a 64 MP Primary Camera along with a 13 MP Ultra-wide Angle Camera and a 5 MP macro sensor. Nubia Red Magic 6 Pro has a similar triple camera setup with a 64 MP primary sensor, an 8 MP ultrawide snapper, and a 2 MP macro lens. It offers a single 8 MP selfie shooter at the front which is weaker when compared to the 24 MP front-snapper of ASUS ROG Phone 5.

Battery and Fast Charging

ROG Phone 5 draws energy from a massive 6,000mAh battery cell and is paired with a 65W fast-charging support. In comparison to this, Red Magic 6 Pro draws power from a smaller 4500mAh battery and is paired with a 120W fast charging support. Due to a much weaker battery cell, ASUS’ device lures us in this domain which is very important from the gaming perspective.

Features

ASUS ROG Phone 5 has trigger buttons at shoulders as well as at the rear side of the device. We can also spot a mini display which can help the gamers to view while they are using the smartphone for playing games. There is also a grip detection sensor and an ultrasonic sensors for AirTrigger 5. Nubia Red Magic 6 Pro has the power button and the volume rocker on the right side of the handset. Apart from this, it has an optical fingerprint sensor.

Price

Nubia Red Magic Pro comes with these three variants and prices.

  • 12GB + 128GB – CNY 4,399 (~Rs. 49,500)
  • 12GB + 256GB – CNY 4,799 (~Rs. 53,999)
  • 16GB + 256GB – CNY 5,299 (~Rs. 59,600)

The transparent edition of this Pro model comes with 16GB + 256GB and 18GB + 512GB cost CNY 5,599 (Rs 63,070) and CNY 6,599 (Rs 74,300) respectively.

ASUS ROG Phone 5 Ultimate Edition (18GB & 512GB) will cost Rs 79,999. This is way more expensive than what Nubia is offering. Thus, if you are a gamer but have a budget not that high, Red Magic Pro will be a better option as per the prices.

Our Thoughts

Clearly, with a bigger screen and higher refresh rate, Nubia Red Magic 6 Pro offers a better display when compared to ASUS ROG Phone 5 Ultimate Edition due to the higher refresh rate. There’s not much to separate them on the basis of the processor. In terms of optics and battery, ASUS ROG Phone 5 Ultimate Edition is a better option for the users.

EwHiMnCXYAMF A7 ASUS ROG Phone 5 Ultimate vs ZTE Nubia Red Magic 6 Pro: Which one is a better Gaming Smartphone?

Even though ROG Phone 5 is a bit expensive considering the same 18 GB variant, we believe that for any gaming smartphone, battery specs are very important. Also, the refresh rate of 144Hz is not bad at all. Thus, we prefer ASUS ROG Phone 5 Ultimate Edition. But do make your own analysis because the fight here is too close and it will depend on different individuals what they want.
