Asus ROG Ally X specs surfaces online: Offers features beyond your imagination

The Asus ROG Ally X, an Asus portable gaming PC of the second generation, will go on sale on June 2. The South Korean retailer has already put the Windows-powered handheld up for pre-order, confirming its design, primary specifications, and local pricing. It is anticipated to offer some significant upgrades over its predecessor.

Asus ROG Ally X specifications and pricing

The Asus ROG Ally X has the same basic design as the ROG Ally, however it is now available in black. Its 7-inch touchscreen with FHD resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and 500 nits peak brightness is confirmed by the specs posters. It remains to be seen whether Asus is making the leap to OLED this time, or if the display will be LCD like previously. It will support Dolby Atmos and AMD FreeSync in any case.

Last week, The Verge revealed that the next Asus ROG Ally X will have an 80-watt hour (Wh) battery, which is twice as large as the 40Wh of the current model. The ROG Ally X is expected to last up to three hours for “heavy gaming” and up to ten hours for regular use, according to a recent source that does not explicitly confirm the battery size. The handheld will probably weigh a little bit more due to a potential increase in battery capacity. The Ally X will weigh 670g, as opposed to 608g for the model of the current generation, the report claims.

The increased battery is the more significant feature, but Asus will also include its Armoury Crate SE interface on top of Windows. With an 80Wh battery, the ROG Ally X should have far more endurance than the 40Wh cell found in the original ROG Ally. It is said to support “heavy gaming” for up to three hours, which would be a significant improvement.

The South Korean listing price of Asus ROG Ally X is KRW 1,592,310, which is equivalent to $1,157. Expected delivery dates start in mid-June. The device is reportedly expected to ship in the US for $799.
