Asus has recently released its ROG Ally Handheld console in several markets including Japan, China, and Italy, and now they have hinted at its upcoming availability in India. The official Asus ROG India Twitter account has tweeted a teaser, creating excitement among Indian gamers who have been eagerly awaiting the launch of the ROG Ally. While the Nintendo Switch and Valve Steam Deck can be purchased in India through imports, they have not been officially launched in the country, resulting in higher prices and a lack of warranty or customer support.
Everything You Need to Know about the ROG Ally Handheld
The popularity of mobile gaming in India indicates a strong demand for handheld gaming consoles in the country. However, the pricing of these consoles will play a crucial role in determining their success. Recent leaks have revealed the estimated prices for the ROG Ally with the AMD Ryzen Z1 processor, which is expected to be around 71,999 INR (approximately $875), while the variant with the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor may cost around 79,999 INR (about $973). The leaked prices appear to be considerably higher compared to the US prices of $599 and $699, respectively, which may seem expensive for Indian consumers.
The specifications of the Asus ROG Ally handheld gaming console are truly remarkable. It features a 7-inch IPS display with a Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a 16:9 aspect ratio, and a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth visuals. To enhance its durability, the display is safeguarded by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. Powered by the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor (or the Ryzen Z1 processor in the lower-spec version), along with AMD Radeon Navi3 Graphics, 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and a 512GB PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD, the ROG Ally Handheld offers strong gaming performance and multitasking capabilities.
With Windows 11 as its operating system, the console grants users access to an extensive selection of games available on platforms such as Steam, EA apps, Epic Games, and Xbox Game Pass. Moreover, it also includes a complimentary three-month subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. The console’s dual speaker setup with Asus’ Smart Amplifier Technology enhances the audio quality, further immersing users in their gaming experience.
In terms of connectivity, the ROG Ally offers a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB 3.2 Gen2 Type C port combo for the ROG XG Mobile Interface, and support for a UHS-II microSD card reader. However, it’s important to note that the battery life of the ROG Ally, with its 40WHr battery and 65W charging support, may not be as impressive as its competitors, such as the Steam Deck.
