ASUS Recognized as an EPEAT Climate+ Champion

ASUS has demonstrated its dedication to mitigating climate change by announcing today that it has been named an EPEAT Climate+ Champion. The new Climate+ label is given to products that are registered with EPEAT and made to the strictest industry standards for energy efficiency, environmental responsibility, and lowering GHG emissions.

ASUS is committed to meeting the highest industry standards around decarbonization, environmental responsibility, and energy efficiency

The Global Electronics Council (GEC) is the organization behind EPEAT, a leading environmental ecolabel for electronic goods. The most recent acknowledgement of ASUS’s efforts in environmental sustainability and climate change is the EPEAT Climate+ designation.

In order to determine if a product is worthy of an ecolabel, EPEAT employs strict standards. For instance, EPEAT’s validation ensures that extra critical requirements unique to the Climate+ label are met in addition to adhering to stringent benchmarks related to product categories, such as materials selection, circular design, and end-of-life management. These include employing electricity from renewable energy sources, manufacturing that is energy-efficient, approved emission reduction targets by the Science Based Targets project (SBTi), and carbon footprint reports of products that are independently verified.

As part of ASUS’s commitment to climate action, the near-term science-based emission reduction objectives approved by SBTi EPEAT’s methodology and standards are a natural fit. The company’s short-term, science-based emissions reduction targets have received approval from the SBTi, an initiative that the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) and the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) started. In keeping with its goal of being net-zero by 2050, ASUS has also committed to establishing long-term emission reduction targets with the SBTi.

Reproducible low-carbon goods

By emphasizing initiatives including increasing energy efficiency, employing renewable energy sources, and offering verified product carbon footprint data, ASUS continuously aspires to provide low-carbon products. ASUS goods with the EPEAT Climate+ designation will include third-party certified product carbon footprint reports. Furthermore, independent specialists have certified ASUS’ greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory reporting, guaranteeing the highest degree of precision and openness in its environmental endeavors.

Using more renewable energy

The fact that ASUS uses more renewable energy in its operating centers than the EPEAT requirement of 12.5% underscores the company’s unwavering dedication to sustainable practices. This also represents the significant progress ASUS has made in achieving its objective of using only renewable energy in its worldwide operations centers by 2035 and its Taiwan-based operations centers by 2030.

Supply chain leader in carbon reduction

In an effort to promote climate action, ASUS has started carbon reduction engagement and communication activities within its supplier chain after realizing the substantial contribution of the supply chain to greenhouse gas emissions. Compared to 2020 as the baseline year, major ASUS suppliers cut their GHG emission intensity by 24% in 2022.

Furthermore, by 2025, these suppliers hope to have reduced their emission intensity by thirty percent. By lowering its carbon footprint and laying the groundwork for an even more amazing, sustainable future, ASUS is demonstrating its steadfast commitment to environmental stewardship through these continuous efforts.
