ASUS brings new BIOS for its Intel 700, and 600 Series Motherboards to support 48GB of DDR5-7000 RAM

A new ASUS BIOS update for recent Intel motherboards supports 2 x 24 GB DDR5-7000 memory modules and up to 192 GB in total

ASUS has recently announced BIOS updates for its Intel^® 700 and 600 series motherboards in partnership with Corsair, adding support for up to 192 GB of DDR5 memory and support for the new Corsair Vengeance^® DDR5 48 GB (2 x 24 GB) 7000 MT/s modules.

When builders acquire a 700 or 600 series Intel motherboard from the ROG Maximus, ROG Strix, ProArt, TUF Gaming or Prime lineups, they often have a choice to make: grab an option with support for budget-friendly last-gen DDR4 memory, or future-proof their purchase with a DDR5 model.

As the market for DDR5 RAM has matured, it has become difficult for enthusiasts to ignore the performance potential of next-generation memory. With this latest BIOS update, ASUS motherboards with DDR5 support are formidable options. The entire selection of ASUS 700 and 600 series motherboards now supports the latest 24 and 48 GB DDR5 memory modules.

ASUS has rigorously tested upcoming 2 x 24 GB memory kits made by Corsair to confirm that the full motherboard lineup can support up to 48 GB of DDR5 RAM at 7000 MT/s. Whether users prefer a cutting-edge Z790 motherboard ready for supreme overclocking or a feature-rich yet wallet-friendly B760 option, they will be able to pair it with a DDR5 memory kit that offers an unbeatable blend of capacity and raw speed.

Ready for enthusiasts of all kinds

Many users joke with friends or family about how a purchase of a new and larger memory kit will let them open even more browser tabs. There is a kernel of truth to this, despite the fact that it would take a fairly impressive number of browser tabs to noticeably clog up a modern PC with 16 GB of RAM.

The truth is that many users can actually take advantage of larger pools of high-bandwidth RAM. Some games can take up more than 16 GB of RAM on their own, and that is before accounting for any apps that users just prefer to leave running in the background.

Video editors, architects, product designers, 3D modellers, Twitch streamers, engineers, data scientists and many others all routinely fire up memory-sensitive workloads. These professionals and creators — not to mention all who heavily multitask on a daily basis — have eagerly watched the developing DDR5 market.

The next generation of memory kits offers better scaling for today’s high-core-count CPUs, a massive increase in bandwidth and welcome efficiency improvements, all without significantly affecting overall system latency.

Upcoming DDR5 memory modules from manufacturers like Corsair stand out for just how much memory capacity they offer at dazzling data transfer rates. DDR5-7000 kits are currently available, but they cap out at 16 GB per module.

The new Corsair Vengeance 48 GB (2 x 24 GB) DDR5-7000 memory modules let users get up to 48 GB of DDR5 RAM running at 7000 MT/s. That is a tempting proposition for anyone who needs a lot of high-speed memory. For those who prefer even more RAM, upcoming kits like Corsair Vengeance 192 GB (4 x 48 GB) DDR5 will offer a speedy 5600 MT/s data rate.

Below is a table showing the ASUS Z790 motherboards that will be compatible with the new DDR5 memory modules once the latest BIOS update is installed. Updates for ASUS B760, H770 and 600 series motherboards are planned to follow soon.
