Astro Bot Dominates DICE Awards 2025, Wins Game of the Year

Team Asobi’s Astro Bot emerged as the biggest winner at the DICE Awards 2025, securing five major accolades, comprising Outstanding Achievement in Animation, Outstanding Technical Achievement, Family Game of the Year, Outstanding Achievement in Game Design, and Game of the Year.

This new win adds to the game’s already impressive resume, having scored Game of the Year earlier this year at The Game Awards in December, and then again at the New York Game Awards last month. Astro Bot is the most awarded game so far in 2024 in terms of GOTY titles, receiving praise from numerous institutions.

Beyond its win at the awards show, the game’s developers have started delivering free new content. The Tick-Tock Shock level is available, with four additional levels to come in the weeks ahead. Thrust or Bust arrives on February 20, followed by Cock-A-Doodle-Doom on February 27, Hard to Bear on March 6, and Armored Hardcore on March 13. Team Asobi has also stated that the PS5 Pro update is under development, further boosting performance by enabling the game to run at 4K at 60 frames per second.

Other notable winners at the DICE Awards 2025 included Helldivers 2, which took home four awards for Outstanding Achievement in Original Music Composition, Outstanding Achievement in Audio Design, Action Game of the Year, and Online Game of the Year. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle notably won three awards, taking the prize for Outstanding Achievement in Character, Outstanding Achievement in Story, and Adventure Game of the Year.

Indie sensation Balatro from LocalThunk also took home three awards; Strategy/Simulation Game of the Year, Outstanding Achievement for an Independent Game, and Mobile Game of the Year. Black Myth: Wukong also won for Outstanding Achievement in Art Direction and Metaphor: Refantazio took RPG of the Year. On the individual side, the Lifetime Achievement Award went to Don Jones, and ex-Insomniac chief Ted Price was inducted into the Hall of Fame.
