Asian Games Coverage Bumps “Music Core” and Two Weekend K-Dramas Off Air

If you’re a fan of Korean music shows or weekend dramas, mark your calendar for a quiet weekend — several fan-favorite programs are taking an unexpected break due to ongoing Asian Games coverage.

Asian Games: Overview

What’s Going Off Air This Weekend?

MBC’s long-running music program Music Core is taking a two-week hiatus, meaning fans won’t get a new episode on either September 26 or October 3. This is a longer break than usual, likely tied to how extensively the Asian Games are dominating network broadcast schedules over this period.

Meanwhile, KBS 2TV’s Saturday-Sunday drama lineup is also feeling the impact. Both A Love Other Than Yours and Love on the Menu will skip their usual weekend episodes entirely, with no new installments airing on September 26 or 27.

Why Live Sports Coverage Disrupts K-Drama Schedules?

This kind of scheduling shakeup is fairly common in Korean broadcasting whenever a major sporting event like the Asian Games takes over network airtime. Since these are live, unpredictable events requiring extended coverage, regularly scheduled entertainment programming — especially weekend variety and drama slots — often gets pushed aside temporarily to accommodate it.

For dedicated K-drama and K-pop fans, this means a short but noticeable gap in their usual entertainment routine, though it’s worth noting the shows aren’t cancelled — just delayed.

Catch Up While You Wait

If the wait feels long, this is actually a great opportunity to binge previously released episodes. Fans can catch up on Love on the Menu right now on Viki, making sure they’re all caught up and ready when new episodes eventually resume.
