‘Khichdi’ Squad Selection: Ruturaj & Co Ready for 3 T20Is Ahead of China Adventure

The BCCI Selection Committee has put together a unique squad, comprising a mixture of players from the Asian Games 2023 squad, Asia Cup 2023, and the World Cup 2023. The combination allows selectors to assess the players’ performances and potential in real-match scenarios.

Leadership and Batting Power

Ruturaj Gaikwad has been appointed the vice-captain for the T20Is against Ireland. The senior campaigner Jasprit Bumrah will lead the side, making a comeback after a prolonged injury break. With KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer sidelined due to injuries, the batting lineup will heavily rely on young openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Yashasvi Jaiswal, along with Tilak Verma at No. 3.

Middle Order Composition

To fill the void left by the rested Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube is likely to be positioned at No. 5, followed by the talented Sanju Samson at No. 4. KKR’s Rinku Singh will take charge of the finishing role at No. 6, while the reliable Washington Sundar will add strength to the batting lineup at No. 7.

Pace and Spin Bowling Balance

Considering the need to evaluate the pace bowling options, both Prasidh Krishna and Jasprit Bumrah will find their spots in the playing XI. The second spinner’s role will be taken up by either Ravi Bishnoi or Shahbaz Ahmed. The race for the third seamer’s role will be intense among Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar, and Avesh Khan.
