Indian bowler Ravichandran Ashwin is a world-class spinner. He has so far played 84 Tests, in which he has picked 430 wickets at an average of 24.38. The spinner has not played since India’s tour of South Africa but will make a comeback scene when Rohit Sharma’s men take on Sri Lanka in the two-match Test series that starts from March 4 in Mohali.
R Ashwin is eyeing to overtake Kapil Dev’s record in Indian cricket. R Ashwin has taken a total of 430 wickets in 84 Tests and is one step behind Kapil Dev (434) and Anil Kumble (619). R Ashwin can also overtake the likes of Sir Richard Hadlee (431), besides Kapil Dev.
Ashwin also has the opportunity to overtake Sir Richard Hadlee(431), Rangana Herath (433), Dale Steyn (439) record.
Ashwin set to break Kapil Dev’s record
R Ashwin is all set to overtake Harbajan Singh (50) for the most wickets against Sri Lanka in a Test match. According to statistics, Ashwin has taken 50 wickets in 9 games that featured fifers and one 10-wicket match.
R Ashwin has just needed 166 runs to finish 3000 runs in a Test match. He has beaten Farokh Engineer, Syed Kirmani and MAK Pataudi’s record.
“The reason Ashwin’s record is so good is because he’s a tremendous thinker of the game. So, he’s always thinking about how he can get you out. About what you are doing. And so what he’s doing to counter that? And then he seems to go, “Ok now I’m going to change, so that you’re going to do this.” That’s what makes him really good. Now, not all bowlers are like that,” the Aussie batter told Cricbuzz in an interview.
