Australia vs England 1st Test, Day 4

On Saturday the Australian team defeated England by a margin of nine wickets in the first Ashes Test at the Gabba to go 1-0 in the first series. Australia wrapped up the Test after the lunch. Opener Alex Carey made history with taking 8 wickets before the massive victory.

The England team got bowled out for just 297 in the second innings and set a target of 20 for Australia. England had a fall down after David Malan (82) and Joe Root (89) got out. After that, Ben Stokes scored 14, Joe Buttler made 23 and Ollie Robinson made 8.

This is a nine-wicket for Australia it was 1-0 figure in five-Test series. Robinson dismissed Carey for 9 and Australia and to score 4 runs for a victory in Gabba. Australia began the chase with Alex Carey and Marcus Harris. Australia needed just 20 runs to win.

It was definitely an amazing Test debut for Alex Carey as he achieved a great milestone in the first Ashes Test against England at Gabba, Brisbane. Carey, today became the first wicketkeeper to take 8 catches on Test debut. He broke Rishabh Pant’s and five others records who had 7 catches on their respective Test debuts. The 30-year old cricketer achieved this success in the opening session of Day 4 when Chris Woakes and edged Cameron edged Cameron Green’s delivery.

Australia had a target of 20 runs and won the game by 9 wickets. Ollie Robinson had dismissed Carey, who opened the innings (in place of David Warner) with Marcus Harris.

Australian bowlers Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath are the two cricketers have taken more than 400 wickets in Test matches.
