Arsenal's transfer history shows the reason behind their downfall

Arsenal are still backing Mikel Arteta, and are planning their future with him in charge. That was further boosted last night as the Gunners defeated Champions League and FA Cup finalists Chelsea at Stamford Bridge 1-0.

Speaking on the transfer strategies for the future, Fabrizio Romano mentioned on the Here We Go podcast that they are planning for a new centre-back if David Luiz leaves the club. Keeping to the defensive side of things, they will 100% go for a new right-back this summer.

Former Chelsea player and current Brighton starlet Tariq Lamptey is no longer a target. Emerson Royal of Real Betis is not an easy player to sign given his valuation of over €25 million. Also, having won the Scudetto after 11 years, signing Inter Milan’s Achraf Hakimi is very difficult as well given his season at the club as well.

Max Aarons is appreciated by the club as well. Moreover, Norwich City came up to the Premier League which could further complicate Arsenal’s chase for the player.  Other clubs such as Everton are also joining the race for the player.

Emile Smith Rowe’s game by numbers vs. Chelsea:

100% conversion rate
90% pass accuracy
41 touches
6 ball recoveries
2 touches in opp. box
2 duels won
1 tackle
1 interception
1 shot
1 goal

Having scored the only goal of the game last night, Emile Smith-Rowe is also set for a new contract, and it is time to talk. Arsenal are happy with him and want to extend his contract as they also see him as a great prospect for the future.
