Arsenal have reached an agreement with Manchester City for Gabriel Jesus. The Gunners had the striker at the top of their transfer list for a long time, and now have their man.
The player wanted to stay in the Premier League, despite interest from clubs across Europe. As a result, he will now reunite with Mikel Arteta at the Emirates. The current Arsenal manager was once Pep Guardiola’s assistant at City, and will reunite with the Brazilian now.
Gabriel Jesus joins Arsenal from Man City
Manchester City have agreed a deal worth £45 million guaranteed for the striker. Add-ons will push the total value of the deal up further.
After Marquinhos and Fabio Vieira, Gabriel Jesus becomes the latest new addition to the Arsenal squad. The player had agreed personal terms for a transfer a long time ago, and once the final details over the transfer have been arranged, the deal will be officially announced.
With the arrival of Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland to the Manchester City squad, there was little chance that Gabriel Jesus would be the starting number 9 under Pep Guardiola next season. There was only one year remaining on his current contract, and he had to be sold as a result. Despite interest from Spurs and Chelsea, Arsenal have won the race for the 25-year-old, who will be the replacement for Alexandre Lacazette.
Arsenal are also in the race for Youri Tielemans from Leicester City, but are yet to strike a deal with them for the midfielder yet.
