According to the latest information coming from the tech content creator Luke Miani, we now have some interesting take on what could be Apple’s strategy regarding SoC offerings for its upcoming M1X products.
As we know, the upcoming MacBook Pro 14, MacBook Pro 16, and Mac mini will be sporting the new SoC, which will be Apple’s M1X. According to Miami, there is a more probability that Apple will not be offering a 64 GB RAM option with its M1X Macs.
It is also rumoured that the Cupertino giant will be offering four variants of the M1X silicon, this will further simplify production requirements avoiding the higher costs of needing additional chip configurations.
The Youtuber also stated that the future M1X MacBook Pro or M1X Mac mini buyers will get to choose between having 16 GB and 32 GB RAM as well as having a choice to go for either the 16-core GPU variant of the Apple Silicon or the 32-core GPU enabled SoC.
The actual four variant offering for the M1X chip options will be the 16 GB/16-core GPU, 16 GB/32-core GPU, 32 GB/16-core GPU and 32 GB/32-core GPU. However, this does not mean that all M1X Macs will be offering at least those four-processor choices.
There are also rumours floating around that suggest that there will be a 64 GB RAM option for the M1X MacBook Pro, but the YouTuber seems adamant about 32 GB being the upper limit. It’s arguable Apple planned on originally offering 64 GB, but by utilizing the unified memory architecture that provides lower latency and higher accessibility of RAM.
