Apple officially launched the Apple Watch Series 9 today at its Wanderlust event. It is the brand’s newest wearable, which is identical to the old one in appearance but has a faster CPU and better sensors.
Apple Watch Series 9 Features
Apple Watch Series 9 doesn’t have any new health capabilities, but the heart rate sensor has been enhanced to be more precise. In addition, Apple has incorporated a new gyroscope that allows you to double-tap the Apple Watch with your fingers to operate it without touching the screen.
The Apple Watch CPU has not changed for several years. More specifically, since the Series 6 in 2020, Apple hasn’t released a processor with a faster clock speed. The SiP (system in a package) S9 in the Apple Watch Series 9 this year, however, has a quicker GPU and GPU. Customers will therefore experience faster app startup and system reset times.
In order to locate your iPhone using the watch, the Apple Watch Series 9 contains both the S9 chip and a second-generation ultra-wideband chip. (It’s like using your iPhone to find an AirTag!)

This pre-recorded Apple boardroom farce starring Octavia Spencer as Mother Nature is hilarious.
Likewise updated in the S9 SiP is Apple’s ultra-wideband chip. The U1 chip and the new chip both have “spatial awareness,” allowing the device to precisely pinpoint the location of other nearby devices equipped with the same technology. With super wide-band, Apple improves the technology’s precision while expanding Find My’s alternatives.
The heart rate sensor on the Apple Watch Series 9 has been enhanced to be more accurate, despite the lack of any additional health capabilities. Apple has also incorporated a new gyroscope, allowing you to control the Apple Watch without touching the screen by using a double-tap gesture with your fingers.
A brighter display that can be as bright as 2000 nits while the Apple Watch is in use, or as dim as 1 nit when it is not, is another new feature.
