According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is working on a variety of new items that will be released this fall, including “the widest array” of new devices the company has ever presented.
Apple is working on four new iPhones (the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Max), an updated low-end MacBook Pro, a refreshed larger-screen iMac, a new Mac Pro, a redesigned MacBook Air, second-generation AirPods Pro, three Apple Watches (Series 8, SE, and Rugged), a low-end iPad, and new iPad Pro models, according to Gurman’s latest “Power On” newsletter.
According to Gurman, most of the new items will be released in the fall, but the iMac could be released sooner. Apple is preparing a March or April event to unveil the 5G iPhone SE, a new iPad Air with an A15 processor, and possibly at least one Mac.
Apple may use the spring event to bring the M1 Pro chip to another Mac, such as a higher-end iMac or Mac mini, but the majority of the Mac updates, which will include a new Mac Pro and a completely redesigned MacBook Air, are unlikely to come before the fall.
According to Gurman, the forthcoming iPad Pro will contain an M2 chip and wireless charging, making it a possibility for a fall release rather than a spring one. However, Apple has filed regulatory applications for nine new iPads and three new iPhone models, so more than one iPad might be upgraded at the spring presentation.
Apple had planned to release its AR/VR headset in 2022, but speculations say that the device’s release has been put back to 2023 due to several challenges that need to be resolved.
