Apple Introduces New MacBook Air Models Featuring M3 Chip

Apple has just revealed the 13 and 15-inch MacBook Air versions that come with the M3 chip upgraded support for displays Wi-Fi 6E compatibility and various improvements.

The All New Apple New MacBook Air Models

The new MacBook Air promises a performance boost of up to 60% compared to the M1 model and is said to be up to 13 times faster than even the speediest Intel-based MacBook Air. Apple highlights its Neural Engine positioning the MacBook Air as a choice for consumers looking to tackle AI tasks. Additionally, it now features an AV1 decode engine for video quality when streaming content.

In addition to the M3 chip upgrade the latest MacBook Air boasts 6E support, Voice Isolation, and Wide Spectrum microphone modes for clearer audio during calls and a more durable finish in its Midnight color option. A notable improvement is its ability to connect with two displays simultaneously when the laptop lid is closed. A step forward from previous Apple silicon models that supported just one external display.

After revealing the M3 MacBook Air versions Apple has now lowered the cost of the 13-inch MacBook Air featuring the M2 chip by $100 making it the first time its price has dipped below $1,000.

Initially introduced at $1,199 in June 2022 the 13-inch MacBook Air with the M2 chip had its price cut to $1,099 in June 2023 coinciding, with the release of the 15-inch MacBook Air also equipped with the M2 chip. The base configuration includes an 8-core CPU, 8-core GPU, 8GB of unified memory, and 256GB of internal storage.

Pre-orders for the new MacBook Air models with the M3 chip are open today, with deliveries starting on Friday, March 8. These laptops are available in Midnight, Starlight, Space Gray, and Silver, starting at $1,099. Additionally, Apple has discontinued the MacBook Air with the M1 chip and the 15-inch MacBook Air with the M2 chip.
