Apple seems to skip one of the key specs usual during 2020 in its upcoming iPhone 12 Pro models which are started shipping in October. One noted tipster named Jon Prosser recently confirmed his fans that the iPhone 12 Pro models will not be equipped with a 120Hz refresh rate displays. Among the flagship handsets, it’s the only brand, then, to enter 2021 with 60Hz displays. Whether this will affect sales or not, well, only time has the answer.
In the market, there were rumors that Apple got 120Hz panels, but now it’s clear the driver ICs need not to deliver variable refresh rates. Having a variable refresh rate is good to preserve battery life, though. A few days back, Samsung shipped its Galaxy Note 20 Ultra with the variable rate 120Hz Super AMOLED display using ‘Variable Frequency’ technology.
Apple is very much strict to pick up components to use its products and there can be so many reasons behind that including the product pricing. Other than that, Apple may get parts it needs from other display suppliers than Samsung, like LG and BOE.
