Another day, another news related to Apple! It is quite usual to charge your iPhone, iPad or other Apple devices from your MacBook. But this is done in an old-fashioned way, that is, with the help of a wire. Now, Apple has filed for patents which shows that you can actually charge your devices from MacBook without a wire. This means a MacBook with a wireless charging design.
If you want to travel for a few days and you need to leave out some luggage, choose to leave chargers of iPhone, iPad or other devices. You just require your MacBook and its charger. It is believed that Apple has been working on this technology since 2016. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has granted them with the two patents now.
The figure below shows how multiple inductive charging coils could be placed in one MacBook. These multiple coils will aid in charging many devices at one time, and that too, all without a wire. The figure shows how a MacBook is charging an iPhone and Apple Watch. Placing your devices on the cover of the MacBook will also charge them.
Another report suggests that there can be as many as nine inductive charging zones present inside the MacBook. Imagine, you can charge so many devices with the help of just one laptop! Also, there is a probability that these devices could be stacked. That means you can charge your iPad by keeping it on MacBook, charge your iPhone by keeping it on iPad and charge your Apple Watch by keeping it on the iPhone.
Lastly, this is just a patent and not an actual design. There might be high chances that this design does not transform into a real product at all. So, let’s keep our expectations low but applaud Apple as they continue innovating with their products.
