With the release of the second generation of its M-series chips, Apple has nearly finished the switch to its bespoke silicon. The business is progressively increasing its efforts in the creation of future Mac chips. The most recent reports state that Apple is opening a new facility in Jerusalem, Israel to create future Mac CPUs. To read more information on the subject, scroll down.
Elad Wertheimer, who is in charge of locating people for Apple’s semiconductor division, posted the announcement on LinkedIn (via Times of Israel). Future processors for the Mac will be the primary focus of many marquee programmes in which the new Israel factory will participate. The business has already begun hiring staff for the new location.
Apple has been working on its bespoke chips for years, and it has no intention of stopping.
With the M-series of chips, annual improvements are what we’re looking at. In Herzliya and Haifa, the company already has research and development facilities. In the area, the enterprise employs close to 2,000 people. Johny Scrouj, senior vice president of hardware and technology at Apple, is in charge of establishing the Israeli development facilities.
Through Israeli development, Apple manages and streamlines the data storage technology in a range of devices: Wireless communication components for the Apple Watch, as well as the integrated circuits that were developed in Israel, and the jewel in the crown: the Israeli team played a central role in developing the premium version of the company’s flagship M1 processor, including the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips designed to support premium Mac computers such as MacBook Pro and MacBook Studio. These chips were built here in Israel while working with other teams worldwide, including at the headquarters in Cupertino.
Apple is steadily expanding its operations in Israel, including its design, engineering, and testing of silicon and semiconductors. Additionally, it was stated that the Apple team in Israel had a direct hand in the M1 chip’s creation. The new M2 chip and revamped MacBook Air and MacBook Pro were just introduced by the business. The new chip offers improved performance while using less power.
