@jon_prosser is relatively a new leakster who has also predicted correctly the March launch event and the release date of the new iPhone SE (2020). This time, Prosser has revealed an image showing the schematics of the notch of the iPhone 12.
Previously we have discussed that the phone will come with thinner bezels, quad-camera, larger battery and thinner body. Now some new addition on the specs reveals that the smaller bezel will be achieved by compromising some space between the sensors and a microphone.
In iPhone 11 series we have seen that all the sensors are just like the iPhone X which was the first phone from Apple to feature a wide notch design. This time also rumors suggests that the new iPhone will feature a notch but relatively smaller than its previous generation smartphones. iPhone 11 series had a microphone placed in the notch, but this time Apple has planned to omit it from the list thus we get some more space to shrink the notch accommodating all the sensors in that smaller space.
The sensors Apple is accomodating in the notch are – Infrared camera, Flood Illuminator, Proximity sensor, Speaker, Ambient Light sensor, Front camera and a Dot projector. Here is no mention of a microphone which we saw in the previous generation devices. Reports also claim that all the sensors are even shrunk to some extent to yield more space to shrink the notch.
Previous models has the earpiece or the speaker within the notch, but this time Apple has managed to shift the earpiece on the bezel just like majority of the Android devices nowadays.
In our previous article we have discussed about the full phone design and has also shared some news regarding the specification of the new iPhone 12 (name not fixed). The upcoming generation is said to have thinner body and will feature quad-camera setup with some more interesting features. Reports claim that Apple is also working on its new chipset – A14 Bionic chip (name not fixed), which will even outrun the performance of Snapdragon’s latest chipset.
