Domestic iPhone manufacture in the country has increased dramatically over the last four years. In yet another boost to its India manufacturing ambitions, Apple supplier Foxconn began local production of the next-generation iPhone 15 at its Sriperumbudur factory near Tamil Nadu faster than ever before.

A modest number of ‘Make in India’ iPhone 15 units are likely to be sold to other nations soon after its global introduction. According to insiders, other Apple suppliers in India, such as Pegatron and Wistron, will also construct the iPhone 15 as soon as possible. The iPhone 15 series is expected to increase iPhone shipments by 25% year on year, according to CMR. In the country, iPhone 14 series shipments were over 58% in the debut quarter, and iPhone 13 series shipments were around 23%.

However, Apple’s ability to properly manage any potential production issues and shipment delays with the 15 line-up, particularly the ‘Pro’ models, will be critical to its success. The previous generation iPhones’ sales drove the market momentum for iPhones in India.
