Apple hired three new suppliers in India in 2022, bringing the total number of vendors to 14, as the company continues to diversify its iPhone manufacturing business outside of mainland China. According to the most recent Apple Suppliers List, Apple recruited Molex, Onsemi, and Shenzhen Elwin Precision Technology as suppliers in India, bringing the total number of suppliers to 14 by 2021.

The Apple Suppliers List for fiscal year 2022 includes the company’s top 200 suppliers, who account for 98% of its direct spend on materials, manufacture, and assembly of its products worldwide. Molex and Onsemi have operations in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, respectively, and Shenzhen Erwin Precision Technology has a presence in Uttar Pradesh.

Apart from that, Apple continued to cooperate with its previously mentioned suppliers. This comprises Hon Hai (Foxconn), Pegatron, and Wistron as contract manufacturers, as well as component suppliers such as Foxlink, Jabil, Flex, and others.

However, the majority of its suppliers remained in China, which has 151 facilities connecting the Apple supply chain. The cupertino giant also added five new vendors to its Far Eastern supplier list while eliminating eight.

Tata Electronics, which supplies mechanics for iPhones and assembles limited batches of the iPhone SE, is not on the India list. With the acquisition of Wistron’s manufacturing operation in Karnataka, the Tata Group is poised to play a significant role in iPhone production in the future years.

During a recent earnings call, the company’s CEO Tim Cook stated that India is at a tipping point, with the country’s increasing middle class establishing itself as a major market for its products. According to Cook, Apple posted quarterly record revenues in India, with robust double-digit growth.
