Gurman said in the most recent edition of his “Power On” newsletter that the “momentous meeting” is an “important milestone” in the lead-up to the public launch of the headset, which is scheduled to take place in June. The purpose of the event was to mobilize the top members of Apple’s employees around the next big platform that the business will be releasing.
Everything about Apple’s Headset!
It appears that senior Apple employees have been given a sneak glimpse at the headset on an annual basis beginning in 2018, although these presentations have reportedly been more like discreet glances at the progress being made on the project rather than exhibitions of the finished product. The most recent preview took place at the Steve Jobs Theater and was said to have been a significantly more important event. It was also described as being “polished, glamorous, and exciting.”
Gurman noted that it is likely that the gadget would arrive with various potential faults, despite the fact that there is growing anticipation within Apple for the introduction of the device: In addition, the price of the device will begin somewhere around $3,000, it won’t have a killer app in the traditional sense, it will need an external battery that will need to be replaced every couple of hours, and it will have a design that a few of the people who tested it found to be uncomfortable. Also, it is likely going to debut with a restricted amount of media content.
As a consequence of this, Apple executives are reportedly “setting a realistic tone within the firm” with the realization that “this isn’t going to be a hit product right out of the gate.” Instead, the product may take a path that is comparable to that of the Apple Watch.
According to Gurman, the device’s initial iteration “will appear like a dud next to the company’s existing goods,” but it is nevertheless “likely to make Apple the market leader in mixed reality within a few months.” As future iterations of the headset are released at lower price points, executives anticipate that consumer interest will increase.
