The success and popularity of digital streaming media have been proved due to the sudden lockdowns imbed by the pandemic. The OTT platforms across the world have gained immense popularity and digital streaming is one of the highest-grossing markets of the decade.
As such the companies behind digital media content platforms are trying to extend their subscriber count. The Cupertino-based giant, Apple announced an extension in its free trial plan for its Apple TV+. Anybody with an Apple TV+ subscription that was set to expire from now until June will instead expire in July 2021.
The customers who purchased the Apple TV+ when the offer was relatively new, are now able to enjoy an additional ‘year free’ deal and can enjoy 9 months of free access to Apple original shows and movies.
The first TV+ extension was announced in October and pushed the first wave of free trial renewals out to February. However, with the new extension, anyone who didn’t already cancel their subscription will now be able to use it for free for six additional months.
Any current customers with free trials set to end in the February to June period will now see those subscription renewals pushed out to July. Apple stated that it will be notifying all eligible customers of the extension via email.
And the paid customers of the Apple TV+ will receive $4.99 store credit for the February to June period, offsetting the cost of their subscription. The same is true for people who currently pay for the Apple One bundle subscription.
Apple is pushing it hard to gain subscriber numbers and happiness with its generous offers. And the company is also going to increase the value proposition of the service, as the company releases new flagship series and movies as well as second seasons of its popular launch shows.
