Apple Spring Loaded event has gathered a lot of attention. The US company has launched the all-new Podcasts subscription and it will be coming by May 2021. It will allow listeners to pay podcast creators a monthly subscription fee.
By paying this fee, one will get access to ad-free episodes, early access to series, and a better overall experience. Also, it follows a sharing model as it can be shared with up to six family members. It will be available in over 170 countries and regions. Podcast creators can also offer annual billing and they are the ones who will decide prices.
They can offer free services for a while so that listeners can judge whether they want to spend their money on that specific podcast or not. These creators will be required to sign up for Apple Podcasters Program. After this, they will be allowed to offer premium subscriptions on Apple Podcasts. They can sign up starting from Tuesday via the Apple Podcasts Connect website. The price for this is set at Rs 1,799 / $ 19.99 per year.
Not only this but Apple has given a new look to the app as this will be coming with iOS 14.5 which is set to roll out by next week. Channels will be introduced as well which will allow the podcast creators to group their shows. This will allow the listeners to browse multiple shows in a single section.
It has more than 2 million free shows and can be accessed on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV and other Apple products. As free and paid, both types of contents will be present, the creators need to make sure that they provide additional benefits with the paid content. The search tab in the application will offer categories and Top Charts. The content a user saves can be streamed on watchOS 7.4 and tvOS 14.5 as well.
