In addition to describing his expectations for the iPhone 15 lineup, tech expert Jeff Pu said that Apple will debut two significant items in 2024, including the first Apple Watch with a micro-LED display and lower-cost AirPods.
Pu said in a research note for Hong Kong investment firm Haitong International Securities that a future high-end Apple Watch will most likely have a larger 2.1-inch micro-LED display measured diagonally, which would allow for more brightness than existing Apple Watch models with OLED displays. This model is most likely a new version of the Apple Watch Ultra, which debuted in September and boasts a 1.92-inch display.
Pu referred to the lower-priced AirPods as “AirPods Lite,” but Apple is unlikely to embrace this branding.
He stated that these AirPods would be less expensive to compete with wireless headphones from other firms, but he provided no other details. The $129 second-generation AirPods are currently Apple’s most affordable alternative.
Pu has a checkered record when it comes to predicting Apple’s plans, and these AirPods and Apple Watch specifications have not before been mentioned, so this information is far from definitive. Apple’s intentions for 2024 items may evolve.
