Apex Legends ‘Takeover’ Update Brings Major Legend Buffs, Weapon Tweaks, and Helmet Overhaul
Ash now comes with one new Passive, Predator’s Pursuit, which lets her dash in any direction. Her Arc Snare is better at capturing foes, and Phase Breach now travels farther, and faster and has better endpoint detection. Whistler also gained a new variant, offering a speed boost from Tempest that allows him to store crate weapons in his sling with infinite ammo during his ultimate; and an extra Whistler charge.
The Assault Class is getting new Perks, including Combat Reserve, which increases ammo capacity and adds two grenade-only slots, Stowed Reload for automatic weapon reloads, and Battle Surge, granting a speed boost and enemy highlighting after breaking an opponent’s shield. When it comes to gear, the lower-tier helmets (white, blue, and purple) have been swapped out for rarer, more useful counterparts. Instead, players now no longer level into red shields at Level 4, capping at Level 3 instead. The new Mythic Armor Upgrade Helmet, on the other hand, provides 125 shields. They made minor healing on the Gold Helmet instead of set armor to 100.
For the guns, we’ve got both the R-99 returning to floor loot and Peacekeeper moving to Care Package. There are buffs for damage to several weapons (such as the R-301, Flatline, and Nemesis) and rebalances for others (like Wingman, which has had its magazine sizes reduced). Healing has also been buffed, with Cell and Syringe use times being reduced, and stack sizes being increased.
Further gameplay updates bring Arsenals to points of interest, increased knocked-down movement speed, and visible POI names along with loot tiers while dropping. Ammo/attachments have seen more than a few tweaks, with Hop-Ups such as Hammerpoints being removed. Takeover just delivers a well-sealed package of a great balance too, as well as refreshing and fun elements to an old experience.
