Angelino is set to join Roma on a loan deal with a buy option from RB Leipzig, as confirmed by transfer insider Fabrizio Romano. The player has landed in the Italian capital to complete his medical tests before being announced as a new signing for the Giallorossi.
The Italian side will have the option to make the move permanent in the summer for €5 million. RB Leipzig were expected to bring him back at the end of the season, but have now decided to send him back out – this time to Italy. Angelino has a pre-agreement over a contract until 2028 with Roma.
Angelino to sign for Roma on loan from RB Leipzig
Spanish side Real Betis were also interested in signing the 27-year-old, but he chose Roma over them. And in the coming days, he will be officially announced as a new signing for the club.
Opportunities were not as frequent as expected for the former Manchester City player, with only eight appearances. He provided one assist in the Turkish league, while playing all six Champions League group stage games.
The Spaniard becomes the second full-back to leave Galatasaray in the winter transfer window after Sacha Boey completed his move to Bayern Munich. The Turkish giants are locked in a title race with their rivals Fenerbahce, and it remains to be seen if they can win the league in spite of letting their players go.
