Android 14: The share sheet has been gradually improved in the Android 14 Beta over the past few weeks to look cleaner and display more options. The share sheet has long been one of Android’s flaws despite being a key element of the mobile operating system developed by Google. Sharing on Android is still surprisingly slow despite multiple incarnations of the share sheet over the years that have all attempted to make it faster or better in some manner.
Google has made various adjustments to the share sheet across the Android 14 Beta. With Beta 3, there is one more difference that stands out: on average phones, the share sheet is now five icons wide. This shifts towards increased density rather than the additional blank space that some Material You designs have chosen to take, making more options available on screen at once.
As usual, you can scroll the sheet to see the whole list of share targets that are accessible. Meanwhile, another tweak appeared with the release of Android 14 Beta 4 this week. The sheet now contains a title that describes what you’d be doing.
If you opt to share a webpage from Chrome, for example, you’ll see “Sharing a link” with the real URL below it. A shortcut to copy whatever content you’re sharing to your clipboard will show up on the right side. Similar to that, you have the choice to edit an image in Markup before sharing it.
