Amid lockdown smartphone shipments set to deplete by 15-20%

However  Anand Priya Singh, Analyst-Industry Intelligence Group, CMR stated “Having said that, with remote work and e-learning continuing to gain permanence, it potentially bodes well for the smartphone industry prospects in H2 2021.”

Net smartphone shipments in the first three months grew by 23% with a strong demand for 4G smartphones.

Poco, which is an in house brand of Xiaomi has reflected a massive 465% increase in shipments. Also, One plus has also grew by a triple digit rate.

Shipra Sinha, Analyst-Industry Intelligence Group, CMR, stated, “Xiaomi remained on top in smartphone shipments, and POCO’s remarkable growth bodes well for Xiaomi. It is facing tough competition from the likes of Samsung and Vivo. During Q1, OPPO continued to build on its growth momentum, with new 5G-capable offerings.”

In the 1st quarter, Smartphone shipments of Samsung grew by 41% and have launched 12 new models, among which some of them are A12, A32, A52, A72, directly accounting for 25% of the shipments.

Smartphone shipments of OPPO and realme grew by 16% and 14% respectively while Vivo has a 16% market share and shipments grew by 20%.

The upcoming 5G smartphone shipments accounted for 8% of the net smartphone shipments.
